Y. Wang et al., Tribo-metallographic behavior of high carbon steels in dry sliding III. Dynamic microstructural changes and wear, WEAR, 231(1), 1999, pp. 20-37
The wear micromechanisms of various microstructures in 52100 and 1080 steel
s were studied, using scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron m
icroscopy, X-ray diffraction and microhardness indentation. The results sho
w that the difference in wear resistance of various microstructures depends
not only on differences in microstructural thermal stability, resistance t
o plastic deformation, resistance to initiation and propagation of microcra
cks, especially, but also on the dynamic changes of different microstructur
es and the difference in energy consumption in wear surface layers during s
liding. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science S.A, All rights reserved.
