The speed of ultrasound in and the density of mixtures of 1,5-pentanediol w
ith glycerol have been measured at 298.15 K. The pulse-echo-overlap techniq
ue was used to determine the speed. The excess values of the molar volume a
nd molar adiabatic compressibility were estimated and expressed by Redlich-
Kister polynomials. The data are analyzed and discussed in terms of molecul
ar interactions; the excess values of the molar adiabatic compressibility a
re furthermore compared with the recalculated results of previous investiga
tions of 1,3-butanediol + glycerol und 2-methyl-2,4-pentanediol + glycerol.
