The ratio of isothermal compressibility to the square of isobaric expansivi
ty (K-r/a(p)(2)) was determined via Rayleigh light scattering experiments f
or liquid acetonitrile as a function of temperature. The data obtained from
light scattering measurements are in good agreement with those calculated
from Strobridge equation of state of acetonitrile. The polarizable dipolar
hard sphere model potential parameters obtained from optically measured dat
a via the perturbation theory show excellent agreement with those obtained
by the help of phase equilibrium data of acetonitrile.
