Abstract
1-alkyl-5-phenyl-2,4-imidazolidinediones (4a similar to 4f) have been synth esized by the reaction of alpha-keto hemithioacetal (1) and alkylureas(3a s imilar to 3f) in the slightly acidic medium. The structure of compounds (4a similar to 4f) were confirmed by the MS, NMR, IR spectra, elementary analy sis and X - ray diffraction study. This reaction provides a new convenient method for synthesis of 1,5-disubstituted-2,4-imidazolidinediones.
