Abstract
It is shown that the coupling of the elastic scattering channel to an elast ic-transfer channel leads to a non-dispersive polarization potential with a periodic, l-dependent, energy dependence. Evidence of this is found in the elastic scattering data of C-12+Mg-24 at low energies. The finding can ind icate a significant C-12+C-12 clustering effect in the ground state of Mg-2 4.
