Wm. Shaheen et Mm. Selim, Characterization of thermal products of pure and mixed basic copper carbonate and aluminum hydroxide, AFINIDAD, 56(480), 1999, pp. 129-134
A series of pure and mixed oxides [CuO-Al2O3] system were prepared by therm
al treatment of pure and mixed basic copper carbonate and aluminum hydroxid
e in temperature range 250 degrees-1000 degrees C. The thermal behavior of
the pure and binary salts has been studied using thermal analysis (DTA & TG
) techniques. The thermal products were characterized by the x-ray diffract
ion analysis. The results revealed that, basic copper carbonate and aluminu
m hydro ride decompose at about 230 degrees and 225 degrees C respectively,
to produce copper and aluminum oxides. A solid state reaction takes place
between the thermal products and form copper aluminate compound. The combin
ation of two oxides led to a noticeable change in the physical and chemical
properties which in turn affects the catalytic properties. The catalytic a
ctivity of the pure and mixed oxides produced at different temperatures wer
e measured using the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide as a model reaction
.
