Abstract
Calcium modified PbTiO3 thin films have been prepared on platinized Si, MgO and SrTiO3 substrates. The films were deposited from a sol-gel solution wi th a concentration of 0.3 M and with a 10% excess of PbO. Two deposits of t his solution on the substrates were made by spin-coating, crystallizing eac h of them by a Rapid Thermal Processing. The resulting films present a sing le (Pb,Ca)TiO3 perovskite phase. All the films are textured, but the films deposited on MgO and SrTiO3 show a preferred orientation in the polar direc tion of the perovskite. As a result of this orientation, pyroelectric coeff icients were measured, without any poling, for the films on MgO and SrTiO3. Pyroelectric measurements indicate the application of these films in infra rred sensors.
