Abstract
1,3-Dibromo-5,5-dimethylhydantoin (DBDMH) has been used to oxidize stannyle ne derivatives of monosaccharides to give hydroxy-ketones thereof. Oxidatio ns could be performed rapidly and in good-to-excellent yields. The oxidizin g reagent DBDMH thus provides a convenient alternative to existing methods. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd.
