Up until 1995 there was practically no participation of Greek scientists in
EUROCVD meetings, but at EUROCVD 11 in 1997 about twenty attended. This re
markable transformation has come about because of initiatives of the Greek
government over the last two decades for investing in and supporting new te
chnological methods. This essay highlights CVD activities in Greek industri
es and academic institutions and shows that there is a bright future for CV
D in Greece.
