Abstract
Ventilator-associated pneumonia is the most common infectious respiratory c omplication in intensive care unit patients, particularly those needing mec hanical ventilation. Ventilator-associated pneumonia represents a challengi ng problem in terms of diagnosis, treatment, and prevention, Nosocomial sin usitis is another respiratory infection, not uncommon in mechanically venti lated patients. This type of infection has to be suspected in nasally intub ated patients and may be a hidden focus of fever and sepsis.
