Abstract
The effect of charge fluctuations in the diffuse part of the electrical dou ble layer on the character of interaction between remote particles is studi ed. The first terms of asymptotic expansions of the corresponding contribut ions to the pair interparticle potential are found in an explicit form, and they are compared to the energy of van der Waals interactions. The role of long-range contributions assigned to the anisotropic distribution of the s urface charges is studied for the case of slightly deformed spherical parti cles.
