Abstract
The European Subpolar Ocean Programme (ESOP) of the European Commission was developed to study the large-scale and mesoscale roles played by sea ice-o cean interactions in the Greenland Sea system, and was the first investigat ion to link the uptake and vertical flux of carbon with atmospheric forcing , sea ice and convection processes in the Greenland Sea.
