The purpose of this study was to examine some elements of American and Russ
ian students' emerging global perspectives. As part of the GTP-Georgia/Russ
ia exchange project, 150 high school students from Georgia (USA) and 150 hi
gh school students from Russia participated in three, year-long programs of
collaborative environmental research and cross-cultural exchange. We concl
ude that environmental science education must stress not only cognitive but
also affective outcomes necessary for the assumption of planetary stewards
hip.
