Abstract
The magneto-impedance (MI) effect has been studied in permalloy/Ag multilay ers with different Ag thickness and number of bilayer. By increasing the Ag thickness from 7 to 25 Angstrom, the magnitude of the MI is greatly increa sed and the shape of the MI versus H curves evolves from a single-peak cent ered at H=0 to a double-peak structure. This is attributed to the different anisotropy axes induced by strain in the multilayers. (C) 1999 American In stitute of Physics. [S0021-8979(99)07214-X].
