We have measured the fluorescence excitation spectra (FES) of neutral disso
ciation fragments for ethylene (C2H4) in the excitation wavelength range be
tween 30 and 100 nm. It has been concluded that the total W-Visible FEIS is
mainly dominated by CH(A,B-X) and C2H* emissions produced through neutral
dissociation from superexcited states. In contrast to the UV-Visible FES, L
yman-alpha FES of ethylene shows strong emissions in the inner-valence regi
on rather than in the outer-valence region. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V.
