An angle-resolved photoelectron-photoion coincidence experiment has been pe
rformed on CO at a photon energy of 321 eV. Complete, three-dimensional fra
gment ion angular distributions for several C(1s) photoelectron emission di
rections have been measured. For the case of photoelectron emission along t
he light polarization vector, the ionic fragment angular distribution has b
een compared to model calculations to gain information about the relative p
hase shift between sigma-->sigma and sigma-pi transition matrix elements. (
