Secondary tracheo-oesophageal puncture is frequently used for voice restora
tion after laryngectomy. A method utilizing a flexible gastroscope passed v
ia a mini-laparotomy and gastrotomy in a retrograde manner is described in
a patient where extensive pharyngeal resection made it impossible to cannul
ate the upper aerodigestive tract. The patient suffered minimal morbidity a
nd produced reasonable speech.
