Abstract
A reinvestigation. of Strychnos guianensis resulted in the isolation of a c olored quaternary bisindole alkaloid from the stem bark. The structure of t his new substance, guiaflavine (1), was defined by detailed spectroscopic m ethods and comparison with model compounds.
