The structure of liquid S-100-Te-x(x) mixtures with x = 30, 50, 61 and 80 h
as been investigated. The total pair correlation functions exhibit three di
stinct peaks, which can he assigned to the correlation of S-S, S-Te and Te-
Te. The results indicate that liquid S-Te mixtures retain a chain structure
. The g(r) shows systematic variation due to the composition dependence of
the weighting factors for three partial g(ij)(r) except the one for liquid
S39Te61, The change in the g(r) for liquid S20Te80 at around 3.10 Angstrom
caused by the inter-chain interaction may be responsible to the nonmetal-me
tal transition. Substantial differences in the g(r) for liquid S39Te61 may
be closely related to the existence of the two-phase region with a closed l
oop.
