The antigen retrieval (AR) technique is a novel, simple, and reliable
approach to routine immunohistochemistry (MC) developed in 1991. It ha
s increasingly been used in pathology and analytical morphology, with
a wide fruitful field opened for bath clinical and research projects.
Hundreds of articles concerning AR-MC have been published in a variety
of journals all over the world. As a recently developed technique, th
e wide use of AR has raised numerous questions for further study. This
review article focuses on several key points of the method and furthe
r developments of the AR technique that are different from some review
articles published recently.
