Abstract
The mechanism of reactions taking place during methanol dehydrogenation and the usability of reaction mechanism features for selectivity control are c onsidered. On this basis, highly selective synthesis of methyl formate is c arried out. The process characteristics are better than those of known proc esses. The possibility for further improvement of these indices and the pos sibility of obtaining an overequilibrium methanol conversion are shown. Thi s is possible if hydrogen is removed from the reaction zone through a palla dium-ruthenium membrane.
