The hybrid catalyst containing CuO-ZnO-Al2O3 and gamma-alumina-supported co
pper was found to show high activity in DME synthesis from synthesis gas in
slurry phase. Optimum synthesis gas conversion and high selectivity to DME
were attained at an initial H-2/CO ratio of 1.0 in the feed gas. The study
of process economics suggests that the production cost per heat in DME syn
thesis was reduced by 20% as compared to conventional methanol synthesis.
