N. Mikami et M. Honma, Ferroelectric liquid crystal alignment films utilizing poly(DL-amino acid)s and fibrous proteins, KOBUNSH RON, 56(6), 1999, pp. 396-400
Poly(DL-amino acid)s (poly-DL-Leu, Ale, Gly, and Phe) and fibrous proteins
(fibroin, keratin, and sericin) are studied as alignment films for ferroele
ctric liquid crystal (FLC) devices. On the alignment film obtained from fib
roin, the average director of FLC molecules was oriented normal to the rubb
ing direction of the film, The optically inactive poly(Dr-alanine) film sho
wed the same orientation of FLCs.
