Abstract
Mixed films consisting of poly(di-n-hexylsilane) (PDHS) and three kinds of
calamitic liquid crystals (LCs) were prepared. The conformational state of
PDHS was evaluated by UV spectroscopy. In these mixed films, the absorption
band corresponding to the crystalline phase showed a red shift from that o
f the pure PDHS film. This shift was obvious at a low molar mixing ratio [L
C]/[PDHS] of 0.05. Thus, calamitic liquid crystal molecules promoted the ex
tention of the all-trans-zigzag conformation of PDHS.
