CaCuO2, one of the constituents of high-T-c superconductors, has been studi
ed by EPR. In deoxygenated phases, the study reveals the occurrence of isol
ated (CuO)(4) units. More than one type (CuO)(4) entities due to their asso
ciation with disordered oxygen ions have been detected. The spin-Hamiltonia
n parameters for two types of (CuO)(4) species have been reported.
