The quantum close-coupling studies of the P-3(2) <-- P-1(1) spin-changing t
ransitions in Ba(6s6p) colliding with helium involving changes of magnetic
quantum numbers are presented. The cross-sections are calculated using the
theoretical potential curves of E. Czuchaj et al. [1995, Chem. Phys. Lett.,
196, 37]. A description of the characteristic features of the multi-struct
ure cross-sections, particularly their dependence on various aspects of col
lision dynamics is given. The study of orientation, alignment and coherence
effects is made in a range of relative translational energies from thresho
ld to 2.0 eV. The calculated multi-structure cross-sections are averaged ov
er a Maxwell-Boltzmann distribution of collision energy.
