Abstract
The Boeing version of the PARMELA code has been modified to compute the spa ce charge effects for electron pulses with highly elliptical transverse cro ss-sections. A dynamic gridding routine has been added to allow good resolu tion for pulses as they evolve in time. The results from calculations for t he chicane buncher in the 1 kW visible FEL beam line at Boeing indicate tha t the old circular algorithm of the SCHEFF subroutine overestimates the emi ttance growth in the bend plane by 30-40%.
