Abstract
A three-dimensional multi-level turbulence model is developed to simulate t ide induced circulation in coastal waters. Based on the bathymetry data, th e coastal waters are divided into a number of layers. In every layer, the v elocities are integrated along the layer depth. The eddy viscosity and diff usivity are computed from the Prandtl mixing length turbulence model. This multi-level model solves for the water surface elevations and currents in d ifferent water depths. Comparison of numerical results with the measured da ta shows good conformity.
