In order to describe the variety of results observed in different cuprates
the original Hubbard model is too simple. In this paper we consider a gener
alization of it, where correlated hopping acid intersite Coulomb interactio
n are considered. By using the Composite Operator Method we analyze the eff
ect of these extra terms on the Fermi surface and the relative position of
the van Hove singularity with respect to the Fermi level. Comparison with r
ecent ARPES data on La2-xSrxCuO4 is discussed. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.
