A preliminary characterization of CdS particles grown into zeolite cavities
is reported, We have obtained via hydrothermal synthesis a synthetic morde
nite type zeolite (host) with CdS particles inside its porous structure. Th
e zeolites were doped with CdS at different interchange ratios, The composi
te materials obtained were characterized by Raman spectroscopy, optical abs
orption in the visible range and Nz physical adsorption. The results allow
us to confirm the partial amorphization of the starting zeolitic structures
and the presence of semiconducting inclusions in their pores and cavities,
The optical properties of the samples showed quantum confinement effects.
