Abstract
Ketones react with aromatic aldehydes via a tandem Aldol-Grob reaction sequ ence. The reaction, initiated by boron trifluoride, produces a carboxylic a cid fragment and can serve as an alternative to the Baeyer-Villiger reactio n.
