Abstract
Effects of quantum phonon fluctuations on the Peierls dimerization are expl ored for the one-dimensional Holstein model. By employing a functional appr oach, we found that the Peierls transition can be suppressed by the quantum phonon fluctuations even for the spin-half systems.
