Abstract
Anderson's method of incorporation of C-60 within the cages of a VPI-5 zeol ite has been used as well as a chemical vapor deposition procedure. Xe-129 NMR has confirmed that, starting from an organic solution of fullerene, C-6 0 was actually incorporated into the molecular cages of the inorganic matri x. Thermal analysis and X-ray diffraction showed that the treatment does no t affect the integrity of the crystalline structure of VPI-5. Photoluminesc ence experiments gave similar results as those already mentioned by other a uthors indicating the probable confinement effect of the inorganic matrix o n the C-60 isolated molecules.
