S. Cosnier et al., Functionalized polypyrroles: a sophisticated glue for the immobilization and electrical wiring of enzymes., SYNTH METAL, 102(1-3), 1999, pp. 1366-1369
The concept and potentialities of two original electrochemical procedures o
f enzyme immobilization based on functionalized polypyrroles are described.
A two-step method consists of the adsorption of aqueous amphiphilic pyrrol
e monomerenzyme mixtures on an electrode surface followed by electropolymer
ization of the adsorbed amphiphilic monomers. Example of multienzyme entrap
ment and copolymer elaboration as well as electrical wiring of immobilized
enzymes are presented. The second method is based on the electropolymerizat
ion of a pyrrole-modified biotin. The resulting polymer was successfully us
ed for successive attachment of avidin and biotinylated enzymes.
