Abstract
Symmetrically substituted tetraamidometallo-phthalocyanines (MPc) have been deposited as Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films onto glass substrates bearing go ld interdigitated electrode patterns. CoPc, CuPc, NiPc, and ZnPc LB films w ere shown to possess a very high sensitivity (Delta R/R greater than or equ al to 50% at room temperature) when exposed to ppm levels of:nitrogen dioxi de (NO2). Moreover; it has been demonstrated that the gas-sensing propertie s of the MPc LB films depend primarily on the nature of the central metal, and secondarily on the orientation of the macrocycle within the LB film.
