Molecular materials with new combinations of properties such as conductivit
y and magnetism are attracting great interest. Electrocrystallization of ma
terials obtained by association of the organic donor BETS (bis-(ethylenedit
hio) tetraselenafulvalene) with copper (II) chlorides leads to several diff
erent phases showing coexistence of pi conducting electrons and paramagneti
c 3d electrons localised on copper atoms. X-ray crystal structure and condu
ctivity measurements of the compound kappa-(BETS)(4)Cu2Cl6 are presented.
