We have synthesized polyacetylene ultra-thin films with thickness of 500 si
milar to 1000 Angstrom order. The films were synthesized using highly conce
ntrated catalyst of Ti(O-n-Bu)(4)-Et3Al with thin layer. Activation energy
( E-a) of acetylene polymerization under low initial pressure was estimated
about 7.7 kT/mole. Diameters of fibrils were substantially finer than thos
e of standard polyacetylenes. This situation resulted in unexpected reducti
on of in-plane alignment of fibrils. The electrical conductivity (sigma app
roximate to 10(3) S/cm) after iodine doping was lower than the predicted va
lue (sigma > 10(4) S/cm).
