Abstract
The nonlinear optical response of Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films of poly[3-(6 -tetrahydropyraniloxyhexyl)]-2, thienylene are investigated using degenerat e four wave mixing techniques. A large third order nonlinear coefficient, c hi((3)) similar to 10(-8) esu with subpicosecond response was observed. The large value of chi((3)) is attributed to the longer conjugation length and larger packing density of the LB films.
