We report the results of absorption and photoluminescence (PL) studies on s
olutions and films of the soluble PPV derivative poly (p-phenylenevinylene-
co(2,5-dioctyl)p-phenylene vinylene) (PPV-co-DOctPV). The PL is broadened a
nd red shifted in the film and we have investigated the role of solvent on
the optical characteristics. The possibility of aggregation has been invest
igated using photoluminescence excitation spectroscopy. We report measureme
nts of the effect of excitation intensity on the photoluminescence (PL) spe
ctrum and observe spectral line narrowing.
