Abstract
The suppression of inter-ring torsions in quaterthiophenes changes the deac tivation path of the excited state leading to the reduction of non-radiativ e decay and increase of the photoluminescence quantum yield. Tripler transi ent absorption spectra are strongly affected by central inter-ring bridging , showing features which are tentatively related to different conformers.
