V. Hernandez et al., Infrared and Raman spectra of a well-barrier-well 1,2-di(alpha,alpha '-bithienyl)vinylene, SYNTH METAL, 101(1-3), 1999, pp. 548-548
We have studied the FT-IR and FT-Raman spectra of a neutral thiophene-based
oligomer in relation to the effective conjugation length of the pi-electro
ns. The compound has a well-barrier-well structure, where the well parts ar
e two bithienyl end-moieties and the barrier part is a vinylene fragment wi
th a larger energy gap. Characteristic features are correlated with vibrati
onal data of one-dimensional unsubstituted alpha-oligothiophenes and alpha,
alpha-dimethyl end-capped oligothiophenes.
