Regioregular poly-hexylthiophene (P3HT) is currently one of the most promis
ing active materials for high-mobility polymer field-effect transistors wit
h mobilities reaching 0.05-0.1cm(2)/Vs. P3HT is a soluble, but highly order
ed rigid-rod like polymer with phase separated hexyl side chains. In order
to understand the transport physics of this high mobility polymer we presen
t a careful study of the relationship between transistor performance and th
e electronic properties of the polaronic charge carriers probed by electro-
optical modulation spectroscopy.
