The UV-vis-NIR studies of undoped and doped PANI solutions in m-cresol and
in selected fluorinated alcohols are presented. It is demonstrated that car
eful selection of dopant/solvent couples leads to spectra characteristic of
different degree of charge carrier delocalization in between the two extre
me cases of localized and delocalized polaron models. The obtained results
underline the importance of the strategy based on the molecular recognition
concept in the preparation of PANI with metallic-type of conductivity.
