Abstract
A synthesis of the fully functionalized A-ring of taxoids from the commerci ally available monoterpenic chiron R-carvone is outlined. In this approach, regio- and stereoselective restructuring of alkyl substituents and functio nalities is effected on the periphery while retaining the six membered core of carvone.
