Abstract
The study of yeast sensitivity to sterols biosynthesis inhibitors led us to clone the FEN1 gene. Strains carrying defective allele of FEN1 gene are re sistant to inhibitors of post-squalene biosynthesis steps. Overexpression o f this gene causes hypersensitivity to these inhibotors. Other groups have cloned FEN1 gene in different physiological contexts. We present here the c hromosomal localisation of FEN1 at the YCR34W locus and results of investig ations devoted to unterstand the function of this gene.
