Abstract
The coordination geometry of the cations in the red form of aquatricarbonyl (1,10-phenanthroline-N,N')rhenium(I) trifluoromethanesulfonate hydrate, [Re (C12H8N2)(CO)(3)-(H2O)]CF3SO3. H2O, is approximately octahedral, with a fac ial arrangement of the linearly coordinated carbonyl ligands. The phenanthr oline (phen) ligands interleave to form a columnar pi-stacked structure.
