Abstract
The molecular structure of the title compound, C12H8O2, is normal. The two CHO groups are rotated 7.2(1) and 22.7(1)degrees out of the mean plane of t he naphthalene fragment. The H atom in one CHO group is 2.30 Angstrom from the O atom in the adjacent group in an intramolecular C-H ... O hydrogen bo nd. There are no intermolecular hydrogen bonds.
