Abstract
A new method for the preparation of N-methylamino acids and some of their d erivatives starting from hexafluoroacetone protected amino acids is describ ed. The new concept results in saving of steps compared to conventional pro tection/activation techniques. Protection and deprotection proceed without racemization.
