W. Brinkmann et al., ROSAT HRI observation of the supernova remnant Kes 32 and the nearby radiopulsar PSR B1610-50, ASTRON ASTR, 346(2), 1999, pp. 599-603
We present the results of a deep ROSAT HRI observation of the supernova rem
nant Kes 32 and the possibly associated pulsar PSR B1610-50. The supernova
remnant shows strongly energy dependent complex structures in a comparison
with the ASCA GIS and ROSAT PSPC data with low foreground absorption (NH si
milar to 5 X 10(21) cm(-2)). The pulsar is not seen in the HRI image indica
ting a high absorbing column density (N-H;greater than or similar to 5 x 10
(22) cm(-2)) along the line of sight, making the physical connection betwee
n Kes 32 and PSR B1610-50unlikely. The elongated structure south of the pul
sar, interpreted as a pul sar jet, might be an unrelated foreground emissio
n.
