Abstract
The vibrational properties of triflic acid and of triflic acid-acetonitrile adducts adsorbed in silicalite channels are described. The spectroscopic m odifications induced on triflic acid by the acid-base interaction are compa red with those of the HCl/acetonitrile adducts formed in situ in the silica lite channels, and with those of the H-ZSM-5/acetonitrile and of the H-Nafi on/acetonitrile systems. It is concluded that triflic acid in silicalite sh ows an acidity almost comparable to that of H-ZSM-5 and of H-Nafion.
